The College of The Arts seeks to prepare its students for careers as visual or performing artists, architects, educators and researchers by providing them with the finest in classroom and hands-on experiences. To achieve our goals we have developed a five-year plan that will propel the College into the ranks of the most forward-thinking institutions of our time.
To attract students of talent and enhance achievement we intend to raise nearly a half-million dollars for scholarships and graduate assistantships. We will also seek funds to enable students to engage with the arts globally through USF’s study abroad programs and assist students who wish to attend national and international conferences.
Because students are our first priority, their access to the finest creative minds is essential. The College’s vision includes attracting teachers, lecturers and researchers who are renowned and remain active in their respective disciplines. To that end, we will raise money that will fully or partially endow professorships and eminent chairs in the arts.
The College’s top capital priorities include a new building for Graphicstudio, USF’s premier arts atelier. The facility, to be located near the College’s central complex, will form a foundation for arts research and provide students, faculty and visiting artists with an unparalleled resource. Our plans also include the renovation of the William and Nancy Oliver Art Gallery, an on-campus space for student exhibitions. Finally, we are committed to the acquisition of the remaining pianos needed for the full implementation of our status as an All Steinway School, a designation that places our School of Music at the forefront of national institutions.
